The birth of a baby is an everyday miracle.  It is both a normal body function and an incredibly emotional, and oftentimes spiritual, experience.  A family planning to birth at home with us will find that they are claiming more responsibility for their health care.  Part of the beauty of homebirth midwifery care is that it allows families to have the time and space they need to make informed decisions about their pregnancy and birth.  We strive to provide families with clear, unbiased information so that they can make decisions that resonate with their values.  We want to stand by families as they make their own best choices, and also be there to provide guidance when helpful. 

We truly feel that every woman should give birth where she feels it is most safe and appropriate for her and her baby.  Whether this is in a high level city hospital, in a free standing birth center, or at home, if her decision is being made with the backing of sound, unbiased information, we trust it is right for her.  Research has shown again and again that a planned homebirth with trained midwives results in equal or better perinatal morbidity and mortality rates as low-risk births taking place in the hospital.  Moreover, the excellent outcomes of home birth midwives are achieved with far fewer interventions, no anesthesia, lower economic cost, and much, much greater satisfaction on the part of home-birhting mothers and their partners. We are dedicated to providing this community with the safe option of birthing at home.  We believe a woman’s body is designed to give birth without medical intervention. 

The midwives at Serenade Childbirth Services provide prenatal care focused on health enhancement and building an intimate relationship between midwife and client, skilled and attentive care throughout labor to support a safe and natural birth, and extensive in-home postpartum follow-up to promote optimal family bonding. We believe that midwifery care is a partnership between the mother, her partner, and the midwives. Our information, resources, and years of experience combine with our clients' self-knowledge and values to create a birth experience that meets the unique needs of each family.
